Garboldisham

Knockers
168-3
The scene was set, the crowd (several grazing sheep) were ready and the anticipation was high as the Knockers tour of 2015 kicked off. An early meet at the Royal Oak pub was observed by some and the ten man squad rolled in convoy into the Garboldisham Cricket Club. The toss was lost and Knockers were asked to field.
Opening the bowling were the dependable pair of experience and youth in Dan Turner and Matt Watts. Both started well with the lively bounce generated from Turner at the top end in particular, while Watts settled into a familiar steady line. Garbi's opener Whistler looked dangerous from the outset, hitting Turner for a couple of leg side boundaries but Knockers kept up the effort and he was eventually snared by a good ball. Cookie's brother P Bray also started encouragingly before falling LBW to Watts. Next in was youngster Hart who was quickly bowled but 1st teamer Worby showed quite a lot of promise, hitting Young for a huge six before holing out two balls later to a smart catch by Seldon, after employing a Christiano Ronaldo style chest trap of the ball. Once the top order had been dispatched we were well amongst them but there was a one handed catch by S Seldon and a couple of wickets for the Duke, who had earlier had to relieve himself on the boundary after one too many lunchtime beers.
In response Knockers were confident and made a positive start through Cook and Spencer-Allen, but it was a great surprise when LSA, usually a fine judge of the leave, left one to uproot his off stump. This only brought Knockers gun P Seldon to the crease and he wasted little time in getting involved, hitting the ball to all parts although making occasional use also of the chinese cut. Nonetheless it was entertaining and he was soon joined by Tom Watts who also capitalised on some easy paced bowling, hitting a six before getting out the following ball. Finally S Seldon was brought to the crease and after an early scare, the brothers brought the target close with some relaxed strokeplay. A total partnership of 80 brought the game to a close with Knockers having ten overs to spare. Knockers then enjoyed the fine hospitality of Garboldisham with an excellent BBQ before heading out to hit the Norwich town centre.
