Holmesdale
114-10
Knockers
116-3
Sevenoaks Chronicle, 25th May 1974
Apart from an opening stand of 56 between Wooding and Keeley, Holmesdale's struggled all day against Knockers on Sunday and finally went down by seven wickets.
The home openers gave Holmesdale a sound base but they subsided to 64 for four and were pinned down to just 20 runs in an hour by Francis and Stevens.
Benoit livened up the latter part of the innings but with Francis taking seven for 47 there was no recovery for Holmesdale, who could total only 114.
The Montreal Park wicket was playing slow and Knockers found run scoring almost as difficult as their opponents. They lost Hornsby fairly early on but then Martin and Sims provided the backbone of the reply.
Sims went on to score 55 before getting caught off Sculley, but Golds batted confidently to see the strong Knockers side through to a comfortable success.
