Woodman rescues Knockers
Knockers made hard work of beating Tunbridge Wells Borderers on Sunday. The host asked Knockers to bat, and of the recognised batsmen, only Sagar got going.
He had reached 36 when he played across a straight one and was bowled. Despite a useful 21 from Miller, the Sevenoaks side were struggling at 83 for 7.
The scoreline however was greatly improved by Jamie Smith (34) who, assisted by Pearson, Jones and Woodman pushed the total up to a respectable 155 all out.
It was to be John Brigden's lucky day with the ball, good balls and bad balls alike resulted in the steady fall of wickets. With the aid of safe catching he earned 5 for 28.
With the Borderers at 68 for 8, the game looked all over, but their ninth wicket pair began to show that the bowling was very friendly. There were many worried expressions in evidence after they had put on 59 runs.
It needed two wickets from the injured Woodman to the breakthrough, and the relieved Knockers won by 25 runs.
