Westerham short in frantic run chase
Westerham asked Knockers to bat on Sunday and the decision proved a good one as Stuart Cox took 4 - 12 in 13 overs.
The wet wicket and very slow outfield added to the visitor's problems and after 23 overs they had crawled to 31 for 4.
A captain's innings from Peter Smith lifted the score as put on 62 for the fifth wicket with Miller.
The last six wickets, however, were lost for only 12 runs in an undignified attempt to score quickly King picked ip three wickets and Baker two.
A period of rain over tea delayed the start of the Westerham innings to 6.05pm but now, with the bowlers footholds awash and with the ball like a bar of soap, the advantage had moved to the batsmen.
In just eight overs openers Brown (31) and Styles (19) had put on 50 for the first wicket. It took a superb catch, just off the ground at extra-cover, by Pearson to account for Brown and Martin bowled Styles.
At this stage the home side needed only 54 from 17 overs. But, extraordinarily, they contrived to make a mess of the task.
Woodman (4 -24) and Ellison (2 -18) bowled well and there were two run outs before Westerham were glad to hold on to their last wicket as they played out the last over eight runs short.
