Captain Smith leads way to easy victory
Four wickets for 10 runs in just over two overs by Knockers Captain Pete Smith enabled the Sevenoaks side to gain an easy win over Tunbridge Well Borderers on Sunday.
Knockers were put into bat on a slow wicket and started their innings well with Keith Miller and Mike Woodman putting on 30 runs for the first wicket, before Woodman was caught for 13 runs.
Two more wickets fell for the addition of just seven runs, then John Bramwell joined the attack to take the score to 66 before he too was out, caught.
Tony Martin made a brisk 26 in support of Miller before he was bowled with the score on 120. Miller was the seventh man out with the score on 139, having made 61, and Knockers declared at tea with 151 on the board.
Graham Stiles immediately made himself felt when he took two wickets in his first two overs, putting the Borderers on the defensive.
The home team were then eight runs for two wickets and concentrated on getting back into the match. John Brigden took two more wickets followed by one more from Stiles to land the home side in the position of being five wickets down for just 57 runs on the board.
Then Pete Smith put himself on to bowl, promptly collecting four wickets for 10 runs in under three overs with his deceptively easy off-spinners, helping the Knockers to a 49 run win.
