Marden defeat Knockers
Knockers were beaten by eight wickets when they played away to Marden on Sunday.
Knockers won the toss and elected to bat on what turned out to be an easy pitch, but were unable to get the ball away resulting in a slow scoring rate.
Keith Miller and Richard Botting managed to put on 55 before the first wicket fell, giving the middle order a good platform from which to play their shots.
Richard Stone and Graham Stiles came together at 84-5 and proceeded to take the Marden attack apart, putting on 82 runs in 40 minutes.
Both wickets were still intact when Knockers declared at 172-5, Stone on 56 and Stiles making 26.
On the first ball of Marden's reply the opening batsman, P. Worley misjudged the ball which hit him on the head and he was forced to retire hurt.
Knockers opening bowlers, Stiles and Stone then tied the Marden batsmen down who scored just 15 runs off the first 13 overs, with Stone recording six maiden overs and Stiles two maidens.
The rest of the bowlers weren't so economical, allowing the home team to get on top, with John Brigden the only wicket taker.
Marden eventually cruised to victory with two overs and five balls still in hand.
