Knockers
114-6
Orbilians
115-2
An interesting game on Thursday with knockers turning up with 6 men and rain reducing the game to a 15/15 format. However a last minute call to a local friend gave us three more 10 overs into our innings. Seb Horner and Ed Marsh made a formidable opening partnership of 45 with Ed losing his wicket just before Seb retiring (retirement at 30).
This meant 2 fresh faces at the crease in the form of Guido and Mike Woodthorpe, who both slapped a boundary a piece in true T20 style. Mike unfortunately got caught going at the bowler hard again bringing Ollie Marsh to the crease who is making a habit of running older members of the club out ruthlessly with some ambitious running tactics. Guido was victim to a quick single call which the keeper managed to field turn and throw to just pip his terrier legs and run him out.
Marsh then hit a head height flat six before spooning one to cover. Enter JT who put on 16 and looked in good nick. The three Homesdale ringers then all came and went around JT as Keevil got trapped in front playing a reverse sweep and Davidson retired after a scintillating 32 with three sixes and two fours. Then on the last ball JT fell to an interesting spinner, caught at mid-wicket.
A quick turnaround saw Keevil and Rothy open with a Homesdale attack of seam and spin, Keevil's first saw three fours being hit through Ed Marsh at cover almost consecutively as he showed everyone his best Sydney Harbour Bridge Impressions diving over every one.
Enter Kuts as he came off his short run up, some smart bowling which brought about a few chances and kept the batsmen on their toes...and obviously one throat high beamer to show them he meant business. Ollie Marsh came on the other end made the break though with a clean bowled and a few 'sweet chin music' balls on a skiddy deck after rain. Mike and Ed Marsh then took over with some tight lines and another wicket from Ed bowling some heat down the slope. Ed finished with 1 wicket going for 9 runs off 2 overs and being the pick of the bowlers. Then with 2 overs left Ollie brought himself on again going up hill this time as the Orbillions only needed 9 to win and bowled 2 awful full tosses which both got put away for four and lost us the match. Our 114 looked good at the start but with only 9 in the field the boundaries kept leaking through. A good tight game again but another frustrating loss.
