Knockers
212-6
Shanklin
122-9
Knockers got cracking on tour with a fourteen man squad and former chairman, Andy Darry watching on. Shanklin had a fine deck prepared and Calver made the most of it before Jonah did for the hosts’ top order.
Ollie won the toss and sent out Calver and new Knocker, Ben Pullan. A beautiful partnership formed before Ben was caught for 13. Ted looked tidy but couldn’t build on a start and Scott chased a wide one to a diving catch at second slip. Alas the Kuts slog sweep didn't quite get going, his LBW bringing Sachin to the crease a little sooner than expected.
Richard and Sachin then rebuilt us from 60-4 in the 12th over to 130 in the 26th. The pair saw off the danger men and then tucked in to the slow stuff and would have likely gone on had Sachin not run himself out. This gave Lawrence a chance to step in and start the fireworks - he really was in the mood until another blast saw him caught.
Ollie scooped his first shot for four and then holed out. This brough Ziggy to the crease with one job - to help bring home Calver's maiden ton for the club. Strange running (with own team heckling) from both then led to serious jug avoidance by Richy who finished on 90 not out but picked up his 1000th run for Knockers who finished on 213-7.
Jonah then ran in hard and went through the top order with three wickets - the first a caught and bowled, the second a tidy grab by Hector and the third clean bowled. The was no let up at the other end with Ollie pinning down the batsmen with some heat.
First change kept the pressure on as Ziggy bagged two. He got the remaining opening with a successful LBW appeal and then got a second despite being the only one appealing. George kept the screw turning and picked up a deserved wicket via Ollie's crocodile hands.
Tom then took over and was unlucky that a chance went down. Hector got heckled himself for being boring but his fine spell saw him go for 14 off five overs. Ben then missed a c&b chance but did go on to get one to get tidy figures while Lawrence went bananas on the stumps with 3-3 off two overs to help end Shanklin's efforts ninety runs shy.
