Match Report
Knockers won their second tour match in this T20 game at Ventnor. Sachin top scored with an unbeaten 40 before Hector took three wickets in a devastating spell.
The home side were struggling as an afternoon game slipped to a short format in the evening. Knockers loaned them Jonah and Scott with the former doing for Ted and Lawrence in his first over. Ted was caught behind and Lawrence went next ball as the Ventnor skipper licked his lips.
Calver was in vintage tour form however and following Tom getting bowled, he and Sachin - ever the man to rescue a Knockers tour collapse - tried to rebuild for the second game in a row. Richard fell when looking good and so Ben and Sachin did the middle overs getting us to 43-4 in the tenth.
When Ben was run-out, Ziggy stepped in but fell LBW. A very helpful over from Scott then kick started Knockers late-order efforts as Ollie swung his bat to great effect before getting caught in the deep. Kuts avoided all possibility of facing while Sachin eked out the last few runs.
George again bowled well with only one wicket as a reward. But what a wicket it was! Tom used every part of his upper body to cling on while landing on his back. Hector had the other end and his mastery of swing ran through the rest of the top order. He bowled the perfect ball to their left-hander and hit the stumps again before his third wicket had the help of Lawrence's safe hands. Sachin had let Knockers field with ten for five overs while Ollie had scratched his head as to why he couldn't bring in a slip. A serious fine ensued.
Rory and Ted then took over with Ventnor clearly saving some handy players for later on. Ted was particularly unfortunate to not get reward for a fine spell. Hector kept up a great performance with a thirty yard direct hit. Lawrence chipped in with one and Kuts' first over was better than his second and it took Ollie to break up a possible chase. He took two in one over with Calvs pouching with the gloves and Sachin redeeming himself on the boundary.
