Knockers and Shipbourne both played through adverse weather conditions to reach an exciting finish before the rain finally swept in with just 6 overs to go forcing the game to be abandoned.
Shipbourne did not get off to an ideal start when Edward Irwin got May caught behind with the first ball of only the second over. Paul Seldon then picked up his first wicket when Scott top edged a clip of his legs. Shipbourne tried to steady the ship but when Seldon bowled Pollard they were left struggling at 32-3. Gillam came to the rescue though with a solid innings of 55 well supported by Hart (20). Shipbourne eased towards the hundred up before a flurry of wickets changed the complexion of the game again. Hart's square cut was brilliantly caught by Guthrie Miller at full stretch off the bowling of Corin Spencer-Allen. Andy Darry then trapped Sawyer plum in front of his stumps before Corin Spencer-Allen bowled Gillam leaving Shipbourne 103-6. The advantage had swung back to the Knockers but a quick 40* from Fenton and 33* by Bell saw Shipbourne declare on a competitive 181-6.
Paul Styles and Stuart Seldon again gave Knockers a great start with an opening partnership of 52 in excellent time. Stuart Seldon (30) was dismissed by Harris when he gave a simple return catch but Corin Spencer-Allen ensured that the moment was maintained. The increasingly slow outfield forced Styles and Spencer-Allen to go aerial, both producing an array of shots in a partnership of 70. Styles (46) was finally trapped LBW by Hart just 4 short of his half century. Lynden Spencer-Allen joined his brother at the crease and continued to edge Knockers closer to victory. Corin Spencer-Allen (46) though was well caught in the deep by Harris off the bowling of Hart. Lynden Spencer-Allen and Guthrie Miller looked set to win it for the Knockers but with just 25 runs required the rain that had threatened all day finally turned torrential and brought an end to what should have been an exciting conclusion.
