Match Report

Knockers recorded a good winning draw against Four Elms on Sunday. Winning the toss, Knockers elected to bat first but encountered a very poor wicket which produced a large amount of variable bounce. Charlie Irwin was the first batsman to be dismissed, being caught behind for 5. Paul Seldon (20) then joined his brother at the crease and produced a useful partnership before falling unluckily to a ball that lept off the wicket and caught the glove. Stuart (22) soon followed and it was left to Miller (66) and Marshall (37) to build a big partnership in the face of some helpful bowling. Both eventually fell but Martin Thomas (12) and Tim Pinnington (11no) ensured that a good total of 195-7 was reached.

Knockers bowling got off to a good start when Paul Seldon (2-8) struck in the first over removing Richards. However, the Four Elms batting proved more obdurate than expected and although they never looked to challenge the target, Knockers were unable to take the wickets to give them victory. Edward Darry (1-25) was the pick of the bowling. The other Knockers wicket takers were Trounce (1-31) and Thomas (1-14)
