Match Report

The annual sunny fixture at Linton Park was, like last year, a little strange on the selection front. Once again Guy Howe managed to not show up at the start but unlike last year did make an appearance. This time just as he was needed to go into bat.

Losing the toss the Knockers were put into bat and Boreham and S Seldon made a solid start to the day before Boreham was caught for a quick fire 21. C Irwin followed in the quick runs making 23 before "being caught in the same place again". C Spencer-Allen continued the runs with 38 whilst at the other end Stuart was still plodding along scoring about a run an over. Having been clapped for his 50 on 42(!) he was bowled after a short partnership with Marshall who remained until the end making a valuable 27 before being run out for the last wicket. However the Knockers innings was affected by a succession of wickets to fall caused mainly by the need to up the run rate and this collapse left the knockers 170-8 with Darry still in shorts and T shirt and Howe yet to arrive. Just as the wicket fell Howe arrived and had to change in the car park and Darry was having problems finding and untangling his kit! Darry eventually ran on to the field in a t shirt and was out for a 2 ball duck to be replaced by the un -boxed Howe who scored a stylish 10 before running out Marshall. The score - 190.

Linton Park started solidly and although they scored slowly for the first few overs picked up the pace when some wayward bowling gave them the opportunity. It was tough bowling with the old ball for the Knockers attack and it wasn't until a catch was held by Stuart off the bowling of Paul that the opening partnership was broken on over 150. The Knockers fielding was not tight enough to prevent Linton Park winning as they knocked off the runs with just under 3 overs to go, with only L Spencer-Allen and P Seldon taking any wickets.
