Match Report

The Neville ground was the fine backdrop to a game not living up to the standards it's setting. Tunbridge Wells choosing to bat first, immedietly started to plough into the Knockers bowling heading off at a run rate of almost ten an over. When the knockers side was up to a full complement after some late arrivals the run rate was curbed. However the knockers bowling attack found it difficult to make in roads into the T. Wells batting order. The only wickets falling to spinners Trounce and Cowan. The opposition finally declared setting the Knockers a not impossible target on a good batting wicket of 249-3.
The target soon looked further from reach after the first two overs when both openers were removed without troubling the scorers. It was up to the ever reliable Paul Seldon who with great skill and without ever looking introuble scored a wonderful 77 with very little support from the rest of the team. A total of Five ducks were notched up by the knockers batsmen, and when Seldon finally capitulated to a good straight ball from their opener in his second spell. The innings quickly drew to a close Knockers, losing by 105 runs.
