Knockers Vs Hildenborough

Win :: Played on Sunday 25th July 2004

Knockers
222-4

Hildenborough
77-10

Match Report

This proved to be Knockers first win under Guthrie Miller since he was elected to the captaincy, and the relief was certainly evident at the end. Knockers had a weaker batting line up than normal, and were grateful that Paul Styles (50), Stuart Seldon (66) and Paul Seldon (54*) all made runs. Support also came from Miller (14), to allow Knockers to declare on 222-4.

Knockers bowling performance started promisingly, with the wily Andy Darry extracting turn and variable bounce from the surface. Dan Turner also struck early on with an LBW and bowling the no 3 bat with a slower ball. Hurst Green hero Edward Darry picked up an early wicket but struggled with the slower surface. Steve Trounce, despite struggling for accuracy, took two wickets and Ken Cowan was similarly successful in a tight spell. The final wicket was taken by Turner in the penultimate over, just when it seemed that Hildenborough's last pair might hold on for a draw. A successful day all round then and a second consecutive Knockers win.
