It was to be a succesful day for Knockers -well in terms of the fines comittee for the end of season curry anyway - roughly £30 isn't bad for one game. This gives the impression that there were some awful performances which was not the case. just some fairly indifferent spells of cricket from everyone.
The game ended in a winning draw for Knockers having batted first after losing the toss. The Seldons opened the innings and soon Stuart fell to his getting out shot to gulley. Boreham joined the events and manged his normal edges through the slips mixed with some other shots before getting out. Irwin struck a few balls around the field to follow his 95 not out the previous week. This is to be his last game for the Knockers due to an operation on his shoulders which is to be a loss to the side however short his Knockers career has been. Despite the subsequent early loss of Corin Spencer-Allen, Guy Howe carried the attack, albeit slowly, to the St Lawrence bowling while Lynden and Guthrie struck some effective late blows to finish the innings.
Knockers were confident of the win but an excellent tea slowed things down in the field which ultimately proved costly. However it did not slow down the bowling of the Spencer-Allen brothers who were unlucky to only get 2 wickets in the early stages. However this merely paved the way for the ever intriguing skills of Steve Trounce to remove the middle order. Using combinations of spin, flight and bounce he teased the batsmen into submission, however none of the other bowlers could match his wicket taking feats, despite good bowling from Darry. Only Ollie Boreham, in a rare bowling spell and bowling some military medium rubbish managed to take a wicket. Corin came back on to bowl some cultured off spin late on but it was not enough and St Lawrence finished on 147 for 8.
