Match Report
For the match against Four Elms, Knockers were fielding another changed side from previous weeks bringing into the fold a couple of new faces. However, these new faces soon became old knockers hands as we won the toss and chose to bat.
Boreham and Styles looked to face the Four elms opening bowlers and struggled to get them away. Boreham(14) falling first to yet another lbw decision in the early overs, leaving Styles(25) to stick around to try and build a reapectable target with the help of Stuart Seldon (22),. This pair remained at the crease through out many bowling changes whichj only seemed to alter the slowness of delivery and not line nor length. Soon enough the knockers capitulated to the Bowling attack, Bobbit claiming four wickets in the middle order, J. Boreham , Bramwell and new boy Bill Sawyer falling without really troubling the scorer. Knockers were eventually dismissed for 118. A higher target than once possibly percieved, it gave our illustrious bowling attack something to defend.
The game looked to be slipping away slowly as neither of the opening barrages from Turner 5-0-17 and Cowan 8-3-0-26 seemied to be able to conjure a wicket. Even the exciting fielding attempts from Bramwell could help to dismiss any of the openers. It was a final roll of the dice that brought Styles on to replace the extrememly frugal bowling of Boreham 6-1-0-18, that finally brought an end to the opening stand from Four elms. Styles took 2 for 24 from his 4 overs extracting some turn from the pitch and foxing the batsman into making mistakes. Unfortunately it was not enough to avoid defeat. Knockers losing by 7 wickets with 8 overs to go.
