Match Report

A relieved Knockers finally recorded a tour win in this 40 over match in the delightful settings of the Eastwood Town club. Knockers batted first and were confronted with a very awkward wet wicket which made batting difficult. Mark Epps valiantly opened the batting again and shaped up well until being caught behind off Eastwood's best bowler. Once again Knockers relied on Adam Clarke to score runs, and useful partnerships were formed with both the Seldon brothers. Useful contributions were also made by captain for the day Spencer-Allen, Chris Owen-Jones and Rob Sherwood who was left not out at the end.

Knockers were despondent after their batting effort but still had hope knowing the difficult nature of the pitch. Early wickets were taken by Paul Seldon, Spencer-Allen, Rob Sherwood and Mark Epps but it was really the introduction of on-loan youngsters Alex Sheriston and Chris Owen-Jones that turned the game in Knockers favour. Both bowled tightly and it was left to left arm spinner Owen-Jones to claim the final wicket to secure the win by the relatively large margin of 24 runs.
