Match Report

Knockers again returned triumphant from Holmesdale on Sunday. Losing the toss, Knockers found themselves fielding with only 9 men awaiting the arrival of Howe and 1 other (who never materialised). Lynden Sp-Allen found form with the ball and removed 5 of their batsmen for only 13 runs. At the other end Ed Irwin bowled well for a few overs and picked up a wicket but his last few overs were taken advantage of slightly. Corin Sp-Allen came on for one over before being taken off, much to his dismay. Matt Wood and Nick Jariwalla bowled similar spells of some good balls mixed in with some poor balls, taking 2 wickets and 1 wicket respectively. On Guy Howe's arrival a brief spell of bowling returned 1 wicket to maintain his strike rate. Holmesdale finished on 137 all out without ever really showing any form of dominance over the bowling.

The Knockers' reply started slowly against some accurate bowling. Oli Boreham was the first to succumb, bowled by a girl for 9! Stuart Seldon and Si Bishop kept the innings going before Simon fell for 9 quickly followed by Wood triggered by Howe for 0. Corin Sp-Allen followed with some belligerent batting. Him and Seldon maintained a steady flow of runs. With 20 runs needed to secure victory Seldon fell LBW followed almost immediately by Jariwalla for 0. It was left to the Sp-Allens to see the team home, Corin ending on 70not out and Lynden on 8not out.
Knockers win by 4 wickets.
