Knockers
225-8
'Match drawn – Linton Park – 253/6 - Knockers 220/8
Two fairly evenly matched sides battled out a draw with perhaps Linton winning on points. The home team’s batting got off to a cracking start and maintained it throughout their innings. A memorable and big-hitting 169 from S. Morrison was clearly the lynchpin of the innings. Only Andrew Boxall, bowling to the deep fielders) (2 for 59) and Guthrie Miller (2 for 64) made any substantial inroads. Although an honourable mention should also go to Ollie Jones who, after keeping for most of the innings, took off the gloves and took a wicket caught finely behind the sticks by replacement keeper, Stewart Seldon. Linton Park made a generous declaration allowing the Knockers plenty of time to mount a challenge. Several Knockers batsmen made excellent contributions including Paul Styles (37), Stewart Seldon (26), Simon Slater (48) and the pick of the bunch, Guthrie Miller (66) but a drip feed of wickets blunted the assault as the Linton attack made characteristic use of the sun dipping over the copper beech at the Pavillion end. The Knockers tail-end (David Brigden and Fergus Clinch) batted out the last few of overs with a quixotic blend of dour application and belligerence. '
