Knockers

Tonbridge
142-6

Match Report

A decent all round performance was not enough to secure a victory for Knockers in their annual fixture against Tonbridge CC. Knockers were asked to bat first on a damp pitch but started solidly with Tom Cobb (32) providing early momentum. When he was joined at the crease by Seldon (103*) the run rate was gradually increased as the Tonbridge bowlers toiled in the hot conditions. Cobb's unfortunate run out brought returning South African Simon Slater (57*) to the crease and he did not disappoint with some trademark punishing shots as Knockers moved towards a commanding declaration on 209-2.

In reply, Tonbridge struggled to keep up with required run rates and eventually held on for a draw on 142-6, with Knockers left to rue some missed chances. Pick of the bowling was leg spinner Edward Darry (2-33) with the pacy Guy Howe, making a welcome return to the team, taking 1-13. Ben Cobb (1-12) also took a wicket with his mystery slower ball that he informed us all of on the guestbook. 9 bowlers were used in all.
