New Ifield
101-10
Knockers
104-8
In a low scoring but tense affair, the cool heads of Stuart Seldon (25 n/o) and Ken Cowans (1 n/o) guided the Knockers home when it seemed more likely the home side, New Ifield, would pull off an unlikely victory. Earlier, it had looked all too easy as fine opening spells from the strike bowlers Ben Cobb (4-12) and Dan Turner (1-24) reduced New Ifield to 26/5 but the home team fought back to reach 101. Ken Cowans took 2-30 and Andy Darry 2-26 as well as a memorable catch.
In response, the usually reliable Knockers batting wobbled badly, wickets tumbled and the pressure mounted. Only the Cobb brothers, Ben (19) and Tom (15) made any impact before Seldon showing a fine touch guided the ship home.
Man of the match Stuart Seldon - Sir proved he is not only a fair-weather player.
Bowler of the match no question, Ben Cobb who was cruelly denied the opportunity for a fiver.
Fielder of the match despite a bid by the Cat Seldon, undoubtedly, Andy Darry.
Champagne moment meeting Cookies brother and several long lost cousins.
