Staplehurst
206-6
Knockers
178-10
The Knockers fell short in a run chase in their final match of the year but defeat could not dim what has been a fine season (in all matches – W-10, D-4, L-4). The home side posted a good target (T Davey 78). Pacemen Lynden Spencer-Allen (2-43) and Dan Turner (2-42) were the pick of the bowling despite a slow track. Scott was electric in the field but generally the Staplehurst President who kindly turned out for us, c. 50, generally put all other fielders to shame. It was good to see Paul bowling a few lobs not that he will want to remember his first ball.
In response Stuart Seldon made an excellent 66, picking off the bowling at will, and received good support from Guthrie Miller (28) and Dan Turner (28). DT hit a trade mark monster 6 . However, it was not quite enough as key wickets fell often to the least deserving deliveries (SS, DT, the skipper, LSA). Despite a stout rearguard action from the last pair Ed and Andy Darry, the inevitable happened with 2 overs to spare.
Man of the match – Stuart
Best fielder – The President – sadly not our own
Champagne moment – Scott fielding like a proverbial gazelle
