Alfriston (Tour)
78-10

Match Report

Knockers' first game on tour was a Twenty-twenty against Alfriston. After meeting at the Smugglers Inn for lunch in beautiful sunshine the Knockers were fully prepared for the game. Skipper for the day Ed Darry chose to bat sending in Ben Cobb and Stuart Seldon to open.

The run rate was not a problem in the first ten overs - the wickets were with Knockers 92-7 after ten overs. It was left to Ed Darry, Andy Darry, Ken Cowan and Paul Seldon to add the remaining runs without losing their heads before the twenty overs were up. Not all managed this though with Ken being run out whilst batting with Ed. Blame remains unattributed! Knockers ended on 119-9 after their twenty overs.

Lynden Spencer-Allen and Ben Cobb opened the bowling with Alfriston attacking from the start. However, Lynden removed their opener in the fourth over and wickets continued to fall after this leaving the new batsmen struggling to keep up with the run rate and having to attack beyond their comfort zone. Ken and Ed took 3 wickets apiece. Alfriston ended all out for 78 leaving Knockers victorious.

And back to Eastbourne Travelodge for a quick shower and straight out to the pub. Wetherspoons for a few Rosies etc then onto the mighty Atlantis. Enough said.
