Knockers
226-8
Hurst Green
230-4
Knockers lost a close match in the penultimate over. On a hot day and a fast outfield the Knockers were put into bat. Paul Cook excelled with a powerful and elegant 35 and most of the other batsmen chipped in including Ben Cobb 25, Ollie Marsh 27, Stuart Seldon 24, Sam Spink 25 and even the tail wagged but good catching from the home side consistently slowed the Knockers just as we were getting going. The match was always going to be in the balance and we were probably 20/30 short of a winning score. Fine opening spells from Will Smith (1-20) and Ollie Marsh initially restricted Hurst Green until G Ballard [95 n/o also their w/k, top fielder, brilliant catcher and pace bowler] thumped the bowling mostly Gups, Cookie and Ted to all corners but mostly over the big oaks near the pavilion. Good team effort just fell short.
Man of the match undoubtedly Cookie
Champagne moment the tea
