Knockers
226-6
Ide Hill
168-10
In and entertaining and well fought match Knockers clinched the victory with 4 overs to spare. To start with Knockers posted a fair but not invulnerable score. Ed Darry in a rare appearance at the top of the order showed Boycott like tendencies before, rashly so it turned out, trying to carve one into the fields. Grant Sykes then showed some class with 33. However it took Linden Spencer-Allen (80) to move things on – just like 1999 all over again. In response Calthorpe (31) and Lynch (59) got off to a cracking start despite lively bowling from David Brigden and Matt Watts. Then Ken Cowan took charge with a masterful spell claiming 5/24 in a handful of overs. This opened the way for Guthrie (2/30), the predatory Stuart Seldon (2/27) and Grant Sykes (1/2) to wrap matters up – just in time.
