Sherwood
268-9
Knockers
217-10
Knockers, on a high following the superb victory in the Steve Trounce Memorial Cup against the Old Oaks last week, were brought down to earth. A powerful Sherwood side punished the Knocker’s bowling at the St Lawrence ground (Millhern 82, Fentwell 69). Only a vintage Ken Cowan’s (1/30) performance exercised any real control. Ed Darry picked up 4/74 and a lot of stick [as did a few others]. Dan also had a lively duel with their opener (what odds for a winter down-under). Knockers made a superb start with a mere 20 of the first over (Tom W), followed by a dashing 16 ball 46 from the inform Cookie (2 singles, 11 boundaries) and an equally belligerent 59 by Guthrie Miller but despite fighting to the last, and in the face of brilliant catching by the visitors, the Knockers succumbed.
