On a wet and dank sunday, a scratch Knockers 10 posted a testing 164 in a 30-30 game. 4 debutants were excellent additions, Nick Stewart pacey and direct with the ball, Ben Young, an able keeper, welcome smoker and true character and special mention for Charles Doubleday-Potts. Captain Howe won the toss and strode to the wicket with geoff Smith just as the sun began to shine. Rarely troubled, both cut, pulled and drove with aplomb. 4's and 6's were in abundance until Howe having reached 50 was snapped at short cover. Howe left his troops to seek out fosters and marlboro light and returned to see a collapse of England early 90's levels. The new hope Adam failed again (2) and LSA batted for his average as the run rate dried from 109 for 0 from 15 to 164 for 9 from 30. A fine tea and glorious sunshine saw openers Watts and LSA keep the run rate restricted. Captain Howe seemed more interested in positioning himself near a blonde cougar watching the fine spectacle from the boundary, his captaincy unlike his fine and powerful batting found wanting. Watts and the pacey Adam could not find the breakthrough until DD Potts took a fine catch to give Watts his 1st wicket. Howe rotated the bowling but with only 10 the southborough batsmen worked towards their target with 2 overs to spare. Special mention to the best showers in league cricket and cold beers and late evening sunshine was enjoyed in the hostelery over the road. MOM Geoff Smith.
