Knockers won this 40 over match thanks to some big hitting from Richard Calver and Ed Marsh, accompanied by some good bowling from Charlie Adam.

Knockers won the toss on a cold June day and decided to bat. Stuart Seldon (4) hit a four off the first ball before getting bowled. Charlie Adam (0) was unfortunately out first ball to a terrific piece of bowling. 2 more quick wickets, Guy Howe (7) and Tom Elliot (2) put Knockers under some serious pressure. Paul Cook (25) and Chris Perera-Slater (31) steadied the ship with some determined batting and cracking shots. with Matt Watts adding 20 in a good partnership with Perera-Slater. But wickets continued to tumble with Freddie Young (1) and Nick Williams (0) falling in quick succession. As Ed Marsh (33*) walked out to the wicket to join Richard Calver (40) few could have predicted what they would achieve. They shared a partnership of 82 runs that consisted of six fours and one big six from Calver to give Knockers a respectable total of 186.

After a fantastic tea Knockers took to the field. Marsh opened the bowling with Watts in a good spell of bowling causing problems for the oppositions openers. He did not pick up the wicket that he deserved. Watts bowled one spell of 8 overs and only got one wicket, partly due to the slip combination of Cook and Young dropping 3 catches between them off his bowling. He deserved more. On came Calver to bowl 5 overs for one wicket in a fine spell of bowling. The opposition were now 2 wickets down and a Knockers win was looking unlikely. Young came on after Watts to bowl 8 overs for 3 wickets, bamboozling the opposition with his turning deliveries. The victory was assured by some great bowling from Adam who picked up 4 wickets and was by far the best bowler of the day. Howe cannot be forgotten, getting a wicket off his first ball as Tom Elliot caught his third catch of the day in an inspiring fielding performance showing Cook and Young how to do it.
