Knockers
119-2
Old Oaks
109-6
This was a pleasing win for Knockers to retain the Trounce trophy. We were pleased to welcome the return of John Bowden, playing his first Knockers game since 1996, and he was straight to the fore hitting some early boundaries to retire on 26. Guy Howe then got going in partnership with Paul Seldon as both reached retirements. The later stages were dominated by James Mitchell who eventually finished 26 not out, with some fine hits through the mid wicket area.
In response the Old Oaks made good progress most notably through Gary Atkins who reached a swift retirement, and Australian overseas player Nick Sale, who was eventually caught behind for 24 off the bowling of Watts. The result was still open going into the final two overs with 20 required, but a nerveless penultimate over from Bowden only going for six runs turned the game in Knockers favour. Freddie Young bowled the final over, securing a couple of stumpings as Knockers completed what was eventually a comfortable victory.
