Knockers
155-7
Tonbridge
101-9
Knockers were asked to bat on a damp wicket at Tonbridge on Sunday, and the Sevenoaks side struggled against some accurate bowling and the problems caused by the ball keeping low.
At 73-5 the situation looked bleak but a fine innings from John Bramwell brought about a recovery. He made 54 not out, and with solid support from Mike Martin (19) a declaration was achieved at 155 for 7.
Tonbridge made a bright start to their reply, although John Brigden bowled both openers when they were looking set. Despite a suicidal run out which accounted for Hansell, the home side looked comfortably placed at 73 for 3. However the ever reliable Tony Martin made a breakthrough when he bowled Simmons for 31.
In an effort to tempt the remaining batsmen, Peter Smith brought himself on and was rewarded with two excellent catches by Richard Botting and Ross Humphries off appalling deliveries. Unfortunately the Knockers bowling was not testing enough and Tonbridge survived at 101 for 9 and a draw.
