Match Report

Miller makes vital 57

Knockers, batting first against Barking on Sunday, ran into problems when the Essex side's West Indian placement took advantage of the green wicket at Hollybush Lane.

Batting was not made easy by the lifting ball and Knockers were in trouble at 86 for 8. However, Keith Miller survived and he found support from Brigden (17) and Trounce for the last two wickets. His fighting innings ended when he was run out for a vital 57, resulting in a final total of 143.

It soon became apparent that this score was too many for Barking. A lively opening spell from John Farnfield earned him 4 for 25. Ian Dunlop and Steve Trounce chipped in with one and two wickets respectively and the visitors were struggling at 45 for 7.

Unfortunately for Knockers, Barking now had two experienced batsmen at the crease who dealt comfortably with the remaining overs and no further breakthrough was made. The match ended in a draw with Barking 84 for 7.
