Sheldwich
135-9
Knockers
136-4
Knockers completed a successful season Sunday by defeating Sheldwich by six wickets, a win that owed much to a fine 70 from Andrew Simms.
The home side were asked to bat on a damp pitch and lost a wicket in John Farnfield's first over. Farnfield bowled an excellent spell of fifteen overs for 31 runs, beating the bat on several occasions, but was unlucky not to take further wickets.
Knight (53) then settled in for Sheldwich, but run scoring was slow. The home side reached 93-2 but lost wickets as they tried to accelerate. Mike Martin profited with 5-28 and his brother Tony weighed in with 3-46.
Knockers' reply was dominated by Simms' 70, an innings which included three sixes in one over from Stanford. Simms received good support from Richard Botting and Andrew Walker and victory was achieved with seven overs to spare.
