Unlucky Start
A strong Knockers side decisively defeated the Amblers, newest of local teams, at Hollybush Lane on Saturday.
Strengthened by two Otford players, Knockers rattled up 166 runs including 45 from Oldale and 36 from Enderby. The star bowler for the Amblers was B. Russell, 4-39.
Batting, the Amblers immediately looked impressive, and T. Simons and G. Avis gave them a fine start.
Fast Bowler, G. Enderby, in his 1956 form, then struck. He dismissed the first four batsmen and broke the backbone of the visitors.
They never recovered and only Simons played the bowling with confidence, scoring 50 of his side's 80 runs. Knockers were winners by 86 runs.
