Knockers
131-10
Chessmen
106-10
Sevenoaks Chronicle, August 25th 1967
Moves by the Chessmen on Sunday to avert defeat at the hands of Knockers failed by 23 runs.
Knockers found things easy going early on and there were solid performances by Miller (21) and Drake (34). Valuable runs came from the bats of Cowan (19) and the last wicket pair of Leach (12 not out) and Cole (16 not out).
The declaration came at 131-9 and the runs made by the tail-enders proved to be invaluable in the victory assault.
The Chessmen had varied their attack well using Page (4-40), Dalzell and Bagnell to the best advantage.
When they began their reply the Chessmen managed a start similar to that of Knockers. Opener Storey hist 24 and number four Roberts a spirited 25m but there was little support for these two against the bowling of Drake (5-23) and Corbett (4-22).
