Knockers
144-7
Bromley Town
132-8
Sevenoaks Chronicle, 14th August 1970
Knockers were another team who found runs hard to come by and in their home match against Bromley and they declared at 144 for 7.
When opener, Mike Woodman was our for 47 after 90 minutes, the score was only 73 for 4. But Peter Ellison (38) and Keith Miller (23) added 50 in 35 minutes to enable a reasonable declaration.
Bromley started well, but when both their openers were out for 14, caught off Bailey's bowling, the pace of the game changed.
With an hour left they needed 95 to win and there was no effort to push the pace until the arrival of their number eight Brown. He put the visitors in sight of the target but wickets by Bailey and Ellison swung the game again and at the close, Bromley were 132 for 8 - it could have been anyone's game right to the end.
