Knockers
180-3
Battle
117-10
Sevenoaks Chronicle, 28th August 1970
Knockers, starring Tony Martin (93 not out) and and Ian Miller (6 for 21) gained an exciting last-ball victory over Battle at Hollybush Lane on Sunday.
The home side made a solid start, the second wicket falling for 105 runs when Stephen Bailey was out for a very workmanlike 38 in 100 minutes. Martin engineered a fine 50 and continued in excellent form to reach 93 not out when Knockers declared at 180 for 3.
Nick Bailey made two early breakthroughs but after this Battle continued doggedly. The third wicket fell at 55 with only 50 minutes to go.
Spinners, Ian and Keith Miller then began to pose all sorts of problems for the Battle batsmen and eventually dismissed them for 117, the last wicket coming with the last ball of the day. Ian Miller finished with 6 for 21.
