CARPE DIEM Win The Stable First Round www.carpediemtheband.co.uk
Winter was seen to be drawing closer as on a cold Autumn night some of the Knockers hardcore mainstay supported Paul Seldon in his bands first round performance in The Stable Music Competition. It was with trepidation that the members approached the venue, the Forum, but seeing Paul himself deep in conversation with Guy Howe and lady friend eased the anxiety slightly. After mustering up the courage to enter the feared scene of animal slaughtering, ritual slayings and other Death Metal stereotypes, the select group entered the fray. To much surprise the scene was one of varied nature. Not everyone was dressed in black with long hair. In fact, one could say they were in the minority. Most appeared to be friends of all backgrounds supporting their band through this first stage. The first band up were ok but nothing special. A short interval brought Carpe Diem to the limelight. A four strong group with Paul Seldon on guitar, their stage presence clearly won the crowd over. The sight of Howe moshing away was enough to clear any pretence of this being about hardened metal fans having their say. The music was raw, the enjoyment pure and the band had a stage presence that left noone in any doubt they were the ones going through. Following the third bands effort, the votes were cast and the result announced. Capre Diem all the way.... One could only say that this band is one to watch and that next time will be greeted with a far greater proportion of the knockers to watch.....
Paul was relaxed prior to their set
Guy was excited by the prospect
The set got going
Pauls Guitar playing seemed faultless
And even his singing fitted the bill
CARPE DIEM in full flow
Guy and Sarah certainly enjoyed the show
And Paul certainly Seized the Day....
