Lose :: Played on Friday 6th July 2001
It was after a heavy night and long morning that Knockers descended on Bere Regis. A small village that was commented that it is like "it has a 20ft wall around where nobody is ever allowed to leave". This quote is unattributed but one can say that Guy Howe was playing that day. Well anyway, A 20 over match was scheduled to start at 6pm. Knockers were down to 8 men for the day due to certain members of the squad going home but were saved from being 7 by the arrival of Steve Beaumont. Taking the field first Knockers weren’t troubled too much by their batsmen. A sodden wicket was giving problems and the strike bowling of Howe and C Sp-Allen soon made inroads in to the Bere Regis attack. It looked like they were never destined to score more than 40 until mr Darry stepped up to bowl and succeeded in being hit for 3 sixes in one over to give them a respectable score of 86 from their overs.
The Knockers batting started shakily. Early wickets started to fall mostly due to the failing light and wicket deteriorating but also due to some poor running between the wickets. It was a very poor sight when Knockers' last wicket fell and the team was below the required total - a terrible loss to one of the worst sides we have ever played. The bar after the game was a slightly sombre site for the Knockers but an incredible one at that. It was packed with people of all ages playing all sorts of games and a very welcomed and well priced snack bar.
