Win :: Played on Sunday 4th June 2017
A good win for Knockers in a closely fought game where the balance swung from side to side throughout the game.
After a tardy start, Knockers were invited to bat first. Paul Seldon and Ed Springett took to the opening bowlers with gusto. When Springett fell caught behind in the 11th over the score was on 80. A change in bowling from Sissinghurst led to a period of difficulty for the batsmen with few making headroads and wickets falling regularly.
It was left to Ollie Marsh to push the Knockers score into a challenging position but not without victims; the tap and run approach led to Rawson being run out. Marsh was the last to fall caught behind with Knockers on 188.
After a very enjoyable tea, the Sissinghurst response started slowly with Finn Kinsler O'Sullivan and Simon Rawson bowling a challenging line on the slow wicket. Kinsler O'Sullivan bowled a constantly challenging line at good pace and picked up two well deserved wickets.
Mike Woodthorpe and Ollie Marsh took over, continuing the good work although the Sissinghurst batsmen were able to score slightly more freely and progress the chase. Worthy of mention is Paul Seldon's very quick reactions at slip to take a flying ball off Marsh.
With 102 on the board with 10 overs remaining the game looked in the balance. Marsh and Springett bowled tightly but Sissinghurst scored at a good pace and it was not until a sharp catch from Christian Kutner, at mid wicket, off Cobb that the game looked under control for Knockers. Indeed Sissinghurst fell 9 runs short of the target leaving Knockers victorious.
