Win :: Played on Sunday 3rd September 2000
Due to the nights drawing in, the game starting earlier always causes problems with latecomers. The difficulty for most of the players getting out of bed is great or in Rumary's case not going to bed is the problem
Paul Styles, captain for the day, won the toss and elected to bat and to play a 40 over match. Batting first gave those that needed it either an extra hour to turn up or get some sleep anyway. Stuart Seldon and Matt Wood opened the proceedings and put on 39 before Wood fell for 12 bowled off a slower ball by one of his fellow Holmesdale players. Boreham entered only to depart shortly afterwards miss timing a pull (or maybe being half an hour late on it!) to bring Corin Spencer-Allen to the crease. With only 18 more runs added afterwards Seldon was caught for 55 maintaining his form for the end of the season. Lynden Spencer-Allen joined his brother for a partnership and held the end whilst the wickets of Corin(47), Andrew Marshall(11) and Guy Howe(0) fell. Lynden ended on 72 No with Guthrie Miller at the close also not out on 4 leaving the total at 226-7
The bowling was varied with Ben Rumary taking a couple of early wickets, the momentum of his balls carrying them onto the stumps. Corin Sp-Allen also took home two wickets for only 10 runs in a useful spell of bowling, along with Paul Styles who took a wicket with his deceptive spin bowling. Guy Howe after the excitement of his earlier batting performance shipped into the game with one over with yielded a wicket for his efforts. Guthrie Miller also took a wicket after some loose seam bowling by resorting to spin. The other wicket fell to a direct hit run out from Corin form the boundary although he couldn't repeat the performance from considerably closer later on. Holmesdale ended all out on 152 leaving Knockers the victorious side.
