Win :: Played on Sunday 21st July 2002
Having won the toss the Jazzers put the Knockers in. Richard Botting and Paul Styles opened for Knockers and looked solid early on but when attempting a flashing drive over cover Botting was well caught by Leeke. Knockers wickets continued to fall with Guthrie Miller and Charlie Irwin going cheaply whilst Paul Styles was involved in three balls of madness, being given out twice in the process. There was good resistance from the middle order with Martin Thomas (18), Corin Spencer-Allen (28) and Paul Seldon (32) all making good starts but unfortunately for Knockers no-one managed to take it on. Knockers were in a precarious position at 114-8 mainly due to good bowling from Justin Carr who was generating a lot of spin. However, Paul Schofield (23) and Edward Irwin (46 Not Out) put on a ninth wicket partnership of 71 to leave Knockers a very defendable total of 185.
The Vine Jazzers got off to a shaky start with Lynden Spencer-Allen getting a wicket in his first over thanks to a quick ball and a sharp catch from G Miller. The wickets continued to fall for L Spencer-Allen and when Paul Seldon got in on the act the Vine started to look in danger of losing. Despite the fairly persistent rain the Knockers battled on with Nick Jariwalla and Guthrie Miller wrapping up the tail. The Vine were all out for 152 and Knockers were victorious thanks to a solid team performance.
