Winning Draw :: Played on Sunday 14th September 2003
Knockers finished their season with a convincing performance against Staplehurst, although they were unable to take the final two wickets to secure victory. Inserted by the opposition, Knockers lost an early wicket but Paul Styles (63) and Paul Seldon (61) quickly scored the runs to take Knockers towards a decent total. When the pair were removed, the good work was continued by Lynden Spencer-Allen, who after a slow start made 53. Martin Goff (57no) then scored his second Knockers fifty in only his second game, and in some style. The pair provided the acceleration to enable Knockers to declare on 249-4.
In reply, Staplehurst were quickly in trouble against the opening pair of L Spencer-Allen (3-32) and Darry (1-15). Change bowler Paul Seldon (1-18) then removed Staplehurst's leading batsman, Watts, with a slower ball to bring up his 30th wicket of the season. However the early Knockers momentum could not be sustained so Knockers turned to the slower bowling of Paul Styles (2-50) to remove the stubborn Staplehurst middle order. However, it wasn't enough to secure
victory as Staplehurst finished on 202-8.
