Lose :: Played on Thursday 22nd July 2004
A disappointing start to the tour for Knockers who eventually were largely undone by Cutthorpe's Pakistani professional player in this 40 overs match. A useful four pronged seam attack of Lynden Spencer-Allen, Paul Seldon, Mark Epps and Adam Clarke were not rewarded with the success they deserved on a very lively wicket. Eventually Cutthorpe finished on 175-6, with the visiting pakistani causing one of the more hair raising moments on tour as Steve Trounce got "lost" underneath his skied catch.
Bereft of batting, Lynden Spencer-Allen and Mark Epps opened up and made a spirited start despite the difficult conditions. Spencer-Allen was removed when shouldering arms to the Pakistani but Stuart Seldon carried the fight to the opposition. Paul Seldon continued the good work but it was Adam Clarke who truly shone hitting a 50 on Knockers debut. However, he quickly ran out of partners and despite a spirited knock from Steven Trounce, the last wicket fell with a run out to leave Knockers 28 runs short.
An enjoyable game though and we were especially grateful to the Cutthorpe players for their hospitality in laying on a barbecue for us after the game and creating a positive atmosphere throughout. Just a shame about the result...
