Lose :: Played on Sunday 21st August 2005
After a wet and windy Friday and a promising Saturday, Sunday arrived with some beautiful sunshine, Knockers met early at Ightam with high spirirts enjoying the limelight cricket finds itself in at the moment.
Guthrie winning the toss elected to bat, a very green, spongy wicket awaited the Knockers batsmen and with a fairly short boundary a large total was surely on the cards.
Although Knockers were missing a few regular bats, notably Stuart 'Ton for Fun' Seldon they felt they had the firepower to suceed.
Knockers started positively but soon lost their first wicket, then the second and so on, the buzz word for the day being petulance! with the exception of D.Turner who showed great composure and concentration to try and give some back bone to the innings.
108 all out not the best score but with a couple of early wickets it could be done.
With the early end of the innings Ightam went in to bat for 20 mins before tea, a wicket or two now for knockers would really get them going, D.Turner probed and came close while B.Cobb bowled accuratley and with good pace but alas no breakthrough!
After a few overs after tea Knockers still without a wicket turned to A.Darry and K.Cowan desperate to get a least one wicket it wasn't to be and Igtham reached the total without loss.
Not a great result but beware Homesdale! there are few things more dangerous than a wounded animal!!
