Win :: Played on Sunday 23rd July 1972
Sevenoaks News, 26th July 1972
Knockers' opener John Hornsby, in his side's Sunday match away to Chelsfield Park, achieved a rare distinction in a weekend in which weather and pitches almost completely favoured the bowlers - he scored a not-out century.
In a game interrupted by rain, Knockers scored a six-wicket victory, having been set 170 to make in 90 minutes and getting home with just ten minutes to spare. The Park suffered their first Sunday defeat of the season.
The Housden brothers gave Chelsfield Park a good start, but against effective Knockers bowling from Ellison and Francis, three wickets fell for seven runs.
Knockers also made a good start to their innings, with Ellison - continuing a good match - and Hornsby, putting on 60 in 25 minutes. Then, with a variety of partners, Hornsby took charge, scoring a brilliant century in 80 minutes, and hitting 39 off the last three overs bowled. His 110 included a six and 19 fours.
